Jamia Masjid Ar-Rahman: Islamabad's Stunning Turkish-Style Mosque

Islamabad, Pakistan

Standing in front of this mosque, I had to remind myself I was still in Pakistan. The blue tiles, the domes, the minarets. Everything screamed Turkey. But no, this is Islamabad. Right here in Park View Society. I have seen so many pictures on social media. Finally, I got to see it with my own eyes. Jamia Masjid Ar-Rahman is the name. Some friends call it the Blue Mosque of Islamabad. The construction just finished recently. And honestly, it took my breath away.

This mosque blends Ottoman Turkish architecture with modern Pakistani design. The main dome is inspired by Istanbul's Blue Mosque.

When Islamabad Got Its Turkish Jewel

This mosque is brand new. The construction completed very recently, around 2023 to 2026. It was built inside Park View City, a housing society in Islamabad. The developers wanted to create something special. Something that would remind people of the great Ottoman mosques in Turkey. And they succeeded. The design takes heavy inspiration from Turkish mosque architecture. Think of the famous Blue Mosque in Istanbul. The Sultan Ahmed Mosque built in the early 1600s by Sultan Ahmed I. That mosque has six minarets and beautiful blue Iznik tiles inside. Our mosque in Islamabad borrows these ideas. The pointed minarets reach up to the sky. The domes are classic Ottoman style. The exterior has that unmistakable Turkish feel. Now, Pakistan has a long history with mosque architecture. We have Mughal style mosques like Badshahi Mosque in Lahore. We have the modern Faisal Mosque in Islamabad. But Turkish style? This is something fresh for us. The Ottoman Empire and the subcontinent shared Islamic bonds for centuries. The Khilafat Movement in the 1920s showed this connection. So having a Turkish inspired mosque here feels meaningful. It connects us to a wider Muslim world. The builders used modern construction methods. But they kept the traditional look alive. Every detail was planned carefully.

Why Turkish Design Matters Here

This mosque matters for many reasons. First, it shows how Islamic architecture keeps evolving. We can take inspiration from different Muslim cultures. Turkish, Mughal, Arab. All of it is ours. The mosque has become a symbol of beauty in Islamabad. People come here just to see it. Just to take photos. Just to feel something different. For Muslims, any mosque is a house of Allah. But when a mosque is this beautiful, it touches your heart differently. You want to pray here. You want to sit and make dua. You feel closer to your faith. The younger generation especially loves this place. Social media made it famous. Videos and photos spread everywhere. Now people from all over Pakistan want to visit. It puts Park View Society on the map. But more than that, it puts Islamic architecture back in the spotlight. It reminds us that Muslims built the most beautiful buildings in history. And we can still do it today.

Did You Know? Even though people call it the Blue Mosque of Islamabad, the original Blue Mosque in Istanbul actually has more than 20,000 handmade blue tiles inside. Our version is inspired by that legendary beauty!
